The Recycling Center is located at 1040 N. College (north of Poe Road).

 

Items accepted at the Recycling Center's 24 Hour Drop Off are listed below. 

 

 
How to Separate Junk Mail
  • EMPTY ENVELOPES.
  • Glossy sheets go with magazines.
  • Non-glossy sheets go with mixed office paper.
  • Throw away any plastic or metal objects.

 

  Mixed Office Paper
  • White and colored paper.
  • Plastic windows in envelopes are ok.
  • Labels, stamps, sticky notes, and staples are ok.
  • No paper ream wrappers or construction paper.

 

Magazines/Catalogs
  • ONLY include magazines printed on smooth, glossy paper.
  • Remove plastic wrapper
  Newspaper/Phone Books/ Green-Bar Computer Paper
  • Remove from bags or untie.
  • Inserts and circulars are ok.
  • Dry newspaper only.
  • Tear phone books into 1" sections or smaller.
Cardboard/Brown Bags
  • Boxes should be flattened.
  • No packing material such as Styrofoam, peanuts, or bubble wrap.
  • Remove plastic outer wrap.
  • No milk or juice boxes.
  Steel Cans & Aluminum Cans
  • Separate metals - a magnet will stick to steel but not to aluminum.
  • Aluminum cans usually hold beverages; steel cans usually hold food or aerosols.
  • Remove paper labels.
  • Drain and rinse cans.
Plastic Bottles
  • Bottles only.
  • Please remove and discard bottle caps.
  • No plastic bags.
  Glass
  • Remove lids.
  • No ceramic, china, light bulbs, or mirrors.
Books
  • Hard and soft cover books accepted.
  Aluminum Foil
  • No items with food waste.
  • Pie trays are acceptable.

In order to secure your date and arrange for pickup, arrangements must be made with our office no later than one week prior to your event.

If curbside recycling is not available, you can obtain blue bins at no charge (limit one each per household).  Call the Solid Waste District Office at 419-354-9297.

DIGITAL TV TRANSITION & RECYCLING


 June 12 - DATE EXTENDED!!
The Digital TV (DTV) Transition

Currently, many over-the-air stations are broadcasting in both analog and digital TV formats. After June 12, 2009, full –power TV stations will broadcast only in digital. The DTV transition will affect those who watch free over-the-air television (through a rooftop antenna or “rabbit ears”). If you watch over-the-air programs on an analog TV, you must take action before June 12, 2009. 

Remember:  If you subscribe to cable or satellite service, your TV will not be affected by this change!  You can also purchase a Digital Converter Box from several local retail stores.

All U.S. Best Buy stores will accept most consumer electronics (including televisions up to 32” in size) for recycling, beginning Feb. 15th.  Consumers may bring a maximum of two (2) items per day.  A $10 fee will be applied for each item, and consumers will be given a $10 Best Buy gift card in return. Environmental Recycling does not have a restriction on the size of televisions it will accept for recycling.  However, consumers will be charged by the pound to recycle their old electronics.  Please call for more detailed information on fees.
